Summery landscape

Go to step 1

Create your own

Before you start, go through all the stages.

What you need

  • Talens Art Creation acrylic colours set 8 x 12 ml
  • Stretched canvas Talens Art Creation 24 x 30 cm
  • Set of brushes for acrylic colours of Talens Art Creation
  • Pencil
  • Kneadable eraser
  • Jar of water for thinning the paint and cleaning the brushes during and after painting
  • Tear-off palette

Lightly draw the most important lines with a pencil.

Step 1

Thin the paint with water, then paint over the lines using a thin brush. Use yellow ochre and a mixture of yellow ochre and a little primary cyan.

Begin colouring the sky.

Step 2

Start with the horizon using titanium white. As you go up increasingly add a little more primary cyan. When you get to the top use only primary cyan. Ensure the colours flow from one colour into the next by lightly brushing over them with a moist brush.

Paint the bales of hay and mountain using yellow ochre.

Step 3

Paint mountains and trees with a mixture of permanent green dark and primary cyan or primary yellow. Make bright green by mixing primary cyan with primary yellow. The meadow is a mixture of various shades of green, primary yellow and yellow ochre. Create depth by making a thicker brush stroke in the foreground.

Accentuate the bales of hay using titanium white, yellow ochre and burnt umber.

Step 4

For the tree trunks and the shadows of the bales of hay use burnt umber. Colour the path yellow ochre, titanium white and a tiny amount of primary cyan. With the tip of the brush lightly touch the canvas here and
there to create some flowers using naphthol red medium and primary yellow.
