What you need

  • Bruynzeel Kids watercolour set
  • Small jar of water
  • Bruynzeel Expression graphite pencil HB
  • Tissue
  • White paper

Start with a light sketch.

Step 1

Use the HB graphite pencil to mark the seal's head and front. Also draw the back, tail and underside, but leave a piece of white for the front fins.

Draw the front fins by making triangular shapes and draw the eyes, nose, snout and whiskers.

Add a rock under the seal by drawing two winding lines.

Time to add some colour!

Step 2

Wet the brush and mix the white paint with the black paint until you get a light grey colour and colour in the seal.

Clean the brush in the water and wipe it off on the tissue. Then use the brown paint to colour in the rock. Clean the brush in the water and wipe it off on the tissue. Then use the blue paint to add water around the rock and the seal.

Advanced tip: Make different shades of blue by adding more white paint to make the water look more real.

Add some final touches.

Step 3

Emphasise the eyes, nose, snout and whiskers and also add some small spots to the seal's back and belly. Great job, you finished your seal!
