Vintage tray

Vintage Chalk is a trendy chalk paint with a matt finish, highly suitable for wooden grounds and intended for interior use.

Create your own

The paint is very opaque and ideal for giving interiors a vintage look. Upcycle old furniture and (home) accessories and give them a second life. The paint should be applied with a soft brush or smooth roller. Once dry you can create an old look by sanding lightly. Or you can use Crackle Medium for a craquelé effect (cracks) in the paint layer.

What you need

  • Talens Art Creation Vintage Chalk paint + Crackle medium
  • Foam roller
  • Spalter brush
  • Wooden tray

The surface can be finished with Talens Art Creation Lacquer. Both the Vintage Chalk paint and the Crackle medium are water based. Brushes can be cleaned with warm water.

Step 1

Slightly sand the surface and make sure it is grease free.

Step 2

Paint the surface with a flat brush, i.e. spalter brush. And let it dry for 30 minutes.

Step 3

Apply a layer of crackle medium on top of the painted surface, and let it dry for at least 1 hour. The thickness of the layer determines the size of the crackles.

Step 4

Apply another layer of paint. Use a different colour for the top layer, so the “crackle” will stand out. Crackling starts immediately, so the top colour must be applied in one stroke.
